NC lawmakers suggest holding local polls in single phase

Apr 7, 2017- Lawmakers from the Nepali Congress—the largest party in the parliament—has suggested holding local level elections in a single phase all across the nation.
NC leaders, in a joint meeting of the NC working committee and the parliamentary party in the Capital on Friday, said that the local polls should be held on the slated date of May 14 including the Tarai districts.
A political stalemate has occurred after the Madhesi Morcha—an alliance of Madhes-based parties—demanded the local polls be postponed seeking increase in the number of local units according the population.
Likewise, the leaders also urged the party leadership to resolve the seniority row among the Deputy Prime Ministers as it is affecting the party image.
Similarly, the lawmakers also suggested that the election manifesto of the party be printed on various languages and include local level issues.
