UML puts off Mechi-Mahakali campaign in Province No. 2

Mar 8, 2017- Following the Saptari incident, the main opposition CPN-UML has decided to put off its Mechi-Mahakali campaign in the proposed province No. 2.
But, according to the district leaders’ suggestions, the party said district assemblies, among other programmes, would be held as per the need.

The Province No. 2 has eight districts including Parsa and Saptari.
The party had organised its campaign just for a day in Province No. 2.
Four persons died and dozens injured when police opened fire to contain the situation following a clash with agitating cadres of Madhesi Morcha during the main opposition CPN-UML’s Mechi-Mahakali campaign on Monday.
After the incident, the party had put off its campaign for three days.
The main opposition has decided to organise a mass meeting in Jitpur of the district on Friday.
