Madeshi Morcha decides to withdraw support to govt Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha on Thursday submitted a five-point memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and warned that it would withdraw support extended to the government if its demands were not addressed within seven days. In the memorandum, the alliance of seven Madhes-based parties demanded withdrawal of the local level elections slated for May 14, amendment of the constitution, keeping the local level structure within the provincial jurisdiction and implementing the three-point agreement reached with the alliance during the formation of government. Four persons died and dozens injured when police opened fire to contain the situation following a clash with agitating cadres of Madhesi Morcha during the main opposition CPN-UML’s Mechi-Mahakali campaign.
